About iCubate:

iCubate® (iCubate.com) is a molecular diagnostic company with a novel armPCR technology and integrated platform for automated sample preparation, amplification and detection for infectious disease diagnostics and research applications. iCubate is a resident associate company of the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.

iCubate is a molecular diagnostic company currently seeking a clinical microbiologist with a minimum of 3 years experience working in a clinical microbiology laboratory. iCubate currently has a talented group of people devoted to the company's continuing success. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and a commitment to teamwork.

Position Summary:

The position reports to the Microbiology Lead and will work primarily with the Microbiology group, but also will assist Research, Regulatory and Quality personnel on multiple projects. The daily work will utilize clinical experience to conduct scientific experiments and analyze results.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A bachelors or masters degree in microbiology or a related field.

  • Three or more years of experience in a clinical microbiology environment.

    ASCP-ASM or equivalent is preferred

  • Experience in FDA clinical /analytical pathways

  • In-depth knowledge of the clinical methods and techniques of microbiological tests and analysis

  • Ability to prepare media and reagents and perform microbiological tests

  • Ability to prepare study protocols

  • Experience in validating laboratory assays

  • Experience in developing and following documentation

  • Statistical analysis of laboratory results

  • Experience with Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong ability to multitask and prioritize

  • Attention to detail

  • Good organizational skills

  • Ability to set and meet deadlines

  • Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours and some weekends

Responsibilities:

  • Receive specimens/samples for analysis

  • Manage banked samples, including receiving, traceability

  • Subculture samples on an as needed basis for required testing

  • Conduct tests required to identify organisms, including Gram Stain and required biochemical identification

  • Perform quality control and reproducibility testing

  • Establish and adhere to quality control and preventative maintenance systems

  • Document and validate procedures

  • Collect and analyze data for accuracy, precision, sensitivity and specificity

  • Develop tests and incorporate new laboratory methodologies, update procedure manuals, and evaluate media,

    reagents, and standards according to established protocols

  • Other duties as assigned
