HudsonAlpha Institute ( is a nonprofit genomic science and applications organization. As a global scientific collaborator, it is valued for its expertise in genomic data analysis and interpretation to solve some of the most pressing questions in cancer, undiagnosed disease and developmental disorders, neuro-psychiatric disorders, immune response to disease, agriculture, and public health. As a high-volume genomic data producer, its infrastructure serves hundreds of academic, clinical, and industry clients' needs. Its unique 152-acre campus melds the boundaries between nonprofit scientists, educators, and commercial business people so that collaboration sparks innovation and growth.

The Clinical Services Laboratory led by Dr. Levy is a clinical testing laboratory that support unique laboratory developed tests for use in the diagnostics, clinical trial and medical industries. The CSL team is multi-disciplinary, comprising clinical scientists, software developers, informaticians, and computational scientists with a reputation for excellence within the field of Genomics. The focus of the group is 1) identifying and understanding the molecular basis for human disease and 2) Supporting laboratory developed tests and other clinical assays that are critical to the HudsonAlpha mission.

The Clinical Analyst will be instrumental in supporting the Clinical Services Laboratory. They will work closely with the Clinical team assessing genetic variants from genomic data in the context of a patient's clinical synopsis. They will use the clinical and genomic data to identify candidate causal variants. They will subsequently discuss these with the Lab Directors to select clinically relevant molecular variants for clinical reporting in a CLIA/CAP compliant manner. The Clinical Analyst will thus be expected to interact with experimental and computational biologists, clinical stakeholders, and clinicians. Potential projects will impact individuals with rare and common disease including adult and pediatric diseases and oncology. A genetics or molecular background will be instrumental for this position.

The Clinical Services Laboratory at HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is seeking a Clinical Analyst who will:

  • Assume responsibility for identifying and documenting relevant clinical information from complex clinical reports.
  • Use in house and third party tools to assess genetic variants in the context of patient clinical presentations/synopsis and genomic molecular profile to identify candidate causal variants.
  • Review these candidates with the Lab Directors to identify causal molecular changes.
  • Assist in the writing of interpretive clinical reports relevant to the patients' molecular profile in a CLIA/CAP compliant manner.
